A Town of Tonawanda man was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated after a crash Sunday evening in the City of Tonawanda, police said.
Christopher O’Neill, 31, failed to negotiate the curve at Delaware and Harriet streets at 7:09 p.m. and his pickup truck struck a sport utility vehicle waiting at the stop sign on Harriet, city police said.
The SUV, driven by a 58-year-old woman, was pushed into the porch of a house at the intersection while the pickup continued on for several houses before coming to a rest on a front lawn, police said.
The SUV driver was treated for a possible head injury and was taken to a local hospital, police said. Her passenger was not injured.
O’Neill, who also was not injured, had a blood alcohol content of 0.19 percent and was cited for traffic infractions including imprudent speed, failure to stay in the designated lane and driving on a sidewalk, police said.
His vehicle also struck a utility pole, knocking out power to the apartments at 245 Delaware, police said.
