The Golden Griffins will play Fairfield at noon on Sunday at the Demske Sports Complex for the MAAC championship. The Stags, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, beat Monmouth, 8-7, in the other semifinal.
Taylor Giglio led Canisius with four goals on four shots, including three in the first half. She added an assist. MAAC Rookie of the year Erica Evans had two goals and two assists, while Ashley Bull added three goals.
“I was extremely proud with how our girls bounced back after a slow-start in the first half,” Griffins head coach Scott Teeter said. “Not only did we show resilience and grit as a team, but we put together an all-around strong effort against one of our MAAC rivals in the most important time of the year.” Kayla “Scully was a brick-wall in goal for us tonight and we got some strong goals from Taylor and Ashley that really took us to the next level.”
