Alleged Buffalo heroin trafficker arrested by federal agents

David Medina, 49, an alleged Buffalo heroin trafficker, was jailed Friday after he was seized on the West Side by officers of the U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement branch of the Department of Homeland Security.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Catherine Baumgarten said Medina was carrying about 100 grams of heroin when federal agents arrested him. He was charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin, which carries a potential prison term of up to 20 years and a fine of up to $1 million, Baumgarten said.

Medina was arraigned before U.S. Magistrate Judge H. Kenneth Schroeder Jr. Friday afternoon and ordered jailed pending a status conference at 10 a.m. May 13.
