LAFF and Escape arrive; DIY's "American Rehab: Buffalo" may arrive soon

Some Western New Yorkers finally are getting to LAFF and Escape and more viewers will get to see the new Channel 7 sub-channels shortly.

That’s the word from Channel 7 General Manager Michael Nurse.

Nurse reports the two new channels -- which were supposed to become available April 15 -- were available Tuesday to people with a digital over-the-air antenna and they shortly will be available on Time Warner via channels 7.2 and 7.3 on cable-ready sets.

Eventually, the two channels that join the local sub-channel lineup playing classic TV shows also will be carried on FiOS and Atlantic Broadband.

Inquiring minds want to know: Has the area’s primary local PBS station, WNED-TV, carried the business program “Start Up,” which has a TV crew in Buffalo this week filming three businesses?

No, the first two seasons of the series spotlighting entrepreneurship haven’t aired on WNED-TV. But the series is currently airing at 1:30 p.m. on its second channel, ThinkBright/World. That channel is available on digital channel 17.2, channel 1275 on Time Warner in Buffalo and its suburbs, and channel 1277 in Genesee and Wyoming counties and on FiOS on channel 472.

A WNED-TV spokesperson added the station will be airing the episode currently in production when it learns the airdate. The third season begins in September and airs on PBS and its sub-channels, Create TV and World Channel.

WNED doesn’t carry Create TV, which is similar to WORLD, because it doesn’t have another digital channel to carry it.

Remember about a year ago when I noted that a new cable reality show featuring an engaged local couple was filming in Buffalo for three months and was expected to air in the fall of 2014, perhaps as early as October?

A publicist for the network later informed me that “American Rehab: Buffalo” was being pushed back to air in April 2015 and will air on the DIY Network.

It didn't air then.

But according to a local design producer, the series that features newlyweds Bernice Radle and Jason Wilson will air some time soon.

Michael Poczkalski, who refers to himself as Michael P. and as the project manager and Designer for DIY Network’s “American Rehab: Buffalo,” reported it is slated to air this summer. DIY has not released an air date.

Radle and Wilson were the first couple to be married in the summer and fall of 2014 at Silo City. The official theme of their wedding was reportedly "Buffalove.” The vacant Buffalo home on the West Side that they rehabbed for the program is on 19th Street.

In a release, Poczkalski, the owner of room, a luxury furniture boutique, and Michael P. Design, also announced he will be a design producer for a new pilot series being developed by Magnetic Productions, a production company for HGTV and DIY Networks. He added the new program is set to begin filming in June in Connellsville, Pa.
