The Canisius College women’s lacrosse team was well represented when awards were handed out at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference’s banquet in Buffalo on Thursday. A highlight was the selection of Tori Quinn of the Golden Griffins as MAAC Offensive Player of the Year for the third straight season. Quinn became the all-time point leader for Canisius this past season as the senior has 247 points.
Meanwhile, Erica Evans of Canisius was picked as the Midfielder of the Year and Rookie of the Year, while Scott Evans was chosen as the Coach of the Year for the second time.
Quinn and Evans were joined by midfielder Ashley Bull on the All-MAAC first team, while juniors Taylor Giglion and Sami Franco were on the conference’s second team.
The MAAC tournament begins on Friday. Canisius, the first seed, will play No. 4 Marist at the Demske Sports Complex at 8 p.m. in one semifinal. Fairfield and Monmouth will square off at 4:30 p.m. The winners will meet on Sunday at noon for the league championship.
