Steven L. Morgan, the Grand Island Fire Company’s communications supervisor, has been certified as an Emergency Number Professional by the National Emergency Number Association which oversees the performance of professionals in the 911 emergency field, the company reported Thursday.
Morgan, a 35-year-member of the fire company and one of its former fire chiefs, is one of fewer than two dozen Emergency Number professionals recognized in New York State by the national agency. Morgan is a nationally-registered paramedic and emergency medical services instructor.
Fire Chief Matt Osinski said that “by achieving this certification Steve has distinguished himself as a leader within the 911 field and his commitment to his chosen profession.”
Osinski said to achieve the national certification Morgan had to pass a rigorous examination of his mastery of the comprehensive knowledge base required for emergency number program management and submit to a review of his experience, education and professional development in the 911 field.
