Crack dealer tries diversion, risks 12-year sentence

LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls drug dealer risks a long prison sentence after pleading guilty Thursday and entering the judicial diversion program.

Felton J. Harris III, 27, of North Avenue, admitted to third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance for selling crack cocaine Sept. 17 and 23 in the Falls.

If he succeeds in the court-supervised treatment program, his felony charge would be reduced to a misdemeanor or dismissed, Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon said. But a failure could send the second-time felon to state prison for as long as 12 years.
