DUNKIRK – The Resource Center, a medical team site, held an open house Wednesday for its new dental office at 186 Lake Shore Drive West.
The office, with state-of-the-art equipment, serves people of all ages, and it specializes in the prevention of dental decay in children. The practice includes dentists Dr. Jill Wierchowski and Dr. John Vona, and is accepting new patients.
“We are very pleased to be welcoming the community to our brand-new dental facility, which showcases a modern, comfortable environment for adults and children to receive dental services in the northern Chautauqua County area,” said Heather Brown, the center’s assistant executive director for program operations.
The center’s dental office relocated to Lake Shore Drive as part of the agency’s STARS project. STARS (System Transformation with Accountability, Results and Satisfaction) is the center’s answer to the future of health care. The STARS model, with its focus on a team approach utilizing care coordination, aligns well with changes in the health care delivery system. Those changes aim to provide better care that results in a healthier population at a lower cost.
Long known in the community for the support it provides to people with disabilities, the center offers a variety of health-related services that are available to anyone.
A key to the implementation of the STARS model is the integration of the center’s services. Relocating the dental office to the Lake Shore Drive building enabled the center to put the office adjacent to services that have been provided in that facility for about 20 years.
