Woman in critical condition after overnight shooting in Buffalo

A woman was hospitalized in critical condition and a man was wounded in the foot in unrelated shootings early Wednesday in Buffalo, according to a police department spokesman.

The 38-year-old woman, whose name wasn’t released, was shot during an apparent dispute with an acquaintance. It happened at about 2:40 a.m. inside an upper apartment in the first block of Auburn Avenue.

Shortly after midnight, a 24-year-old man suffered a non-life-threatening wound to his foot when he was hit by gunfire in the first block of Warren Avenue. The man’s name also was withheld by police.

Both victims were taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment.
