Wrong-way bicyclist struck by car in Niagara Falls

NIAGARA FALLS – A bicyclist going the wrong way on a one–way street was hit by a car on Tuesday.

The collision, which happened at 1:50 p.m. at the intersection of 24th Street and Michigan Avenue, sent the 20-year-old man on the bicycle to Erie County Medical Center with possible head injuries. He was listed in stable condition.

Niagara Falls Police have not identified the bicyclist or the 58-year-old woman driver, who was behind the wheel of a 2009 Hyundai. The car was heading south on 24th Street and the bicyclist was traveling eastbound on Michigan Avenue, which is one way westbound at that point, according to police.

Charges are pending, police reported.
