Here Come the Mummies crawled from their collective crypt and made the acquaintance of Buffalo music lovers on June 10, 2011, during what turned out to be a raucous and rapturously received show at the Tralf Music Hall.
I attended, not really knowing what to expect, and left a convert to the Mummies funky cause. Who were these well-wrapped rascals? From whence their ability to create some of the deepest rhythm section pockets known to man? The show provided no answers, but instead turned out to be a ghoulish treat, as the band members performed a torrid set in fully Mummy regalia, and then disappeared back into the ancient dark from which they’d emerged.
Four years later, Here Come the Mummies once again, this time for an 8 p.m. appearance May 7 at Buffalo Iron Works (49 Illinois St.). Tickets, available now through Ticketfly.com, are priced $20 advance, and $25 on the day of the show.
