D’Youville takes title: The Spartans secured the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference regular-season softball title and the right to host this weekend’s conference tournament with a doubleheader sweep of Penn State-Altoona. D’Youville sailed to a 14-2 AMCC mark behind Kalie McHenry (Sweet Home), a five-time conference Pitcher of the Week who led the league in wins, innings pitched and earned-run average. AMCC Tournament games commence at 10 a.m. Friday with D’Youville scheduled to play at 4 p.m. at the D’Youville Athletic Complex on Fourth Street.

Multiple honors for Daemen: Robert Ralyea (Lockport), Toria Williams (Cleveland Hill) and Mackenzie Donahue (East Aurora) earned first-team All-East Coast Conference status in track and field for their placements at the conference championships. Ralyea, a three-time winner in the indoor pole vault, captured his first outdoor crown by clearing a ECC meet-record 11 feet, 5¾ inches. On the women’s side, Williams defended her shot put title with a heave of 39-1 while Donahue placed second in the 5,000 meters in 18:37.45. Donahue joined Brittany Denton, Hannah Rice (East Aurora) and Lindsey Wood on the 4x800 relay team that won in 10:03.79.

Wildcat athletes earning second-team all-ECC status were: Zach Eustance and Jeremy Rushok (Akron), 5,000 meters; Andy Reid (Lockport) 400 hurdles; Matt McCann (Frontier) 3,000 steeplechase; Williams, discus, and Rice, 800.
