Zoning appeal for wind turbine in Clarence is denied

A request for a variance to allow construction of a 133.5-foot wind turbine in Clarence was denied Monday night by the town Zoning Board of Appeals.

The vote was unanimous, 5-0, to deny the appeal by CEC-Engergy and Ryan Storke for the turbine at Thompson Greenhouses, 8850 Clarence Center Road at Shimerville Road, said Board Chairman Daniel Michnik.

Town code sets the maximum height at 60 feet for the residential single-family zone.
