BATAVIA – A 27-year-old Oakfield man was arrested by State Police Sunday for allegedly refusing to let Batavia Fire Department firemen enter his house to deal with a small but smoky fire.
Jeffrey M. Johnson was arrested after troopers were called to assist the fire crews. He was charged with obstructing firefighter operations and ordered to appear in Batavia Town Court for proceedings in several weeks. After firemen got into Johnson’s house they quickly found the heavy smoke came from food that had been left unattended on his kitchen stove. No damage estimate was issued for the fire.
