New York-affiliated charities helping victims of Nepal quakes

As the death toll goes higher from the massive earthquakes in Nepal over the weekend, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s office has provided the names of New York-affiliated charities that are assisting in relief efforts. Among them are:

Consumers are warned to be vigilant when donating money, since scam artists take advantage of those willing to help in the aftermath of major disaster. Fraudsters commonly solicit money via telephone calls, mailings, social media posts and e-mails that lead to convincing, yet fake websites.
