NORTH TONAWANDA – The City of North Tonawanda will participate in the Parks and Trails New York event, “I Love My Park Day” beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, with clean-up efforts at Gratwick-Riverside Park.
I Love My Park Day activities will include picking up litter and brush along the shoreline of Gratwick Riverside Park, and beautification of nearby docking and picnic areas, soccer and lacrosse fields. The work will prepare the park for the thousands of visitors who come to the North Tonawanda waterfront park each year.
“Gratwick Riverside Park is a beautiful asset of North Tonawanda, and I would like to thank the community and volunteer groups in advance for attending this clean-up effort,” said North Tonawanda Mayor Arthur G. Pappas.
The Mayor’s office and the city Parks and Recreation Department are asking volunteers and community groups to meet at the large pavilion on River Road at 9 a.m. Supplies and tools will be provided by the city. Registration is not required, but is appreciated by calling the Parks and Recreation Department at 695-8520.
The statewide event, is organized in partnership with the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation to enhance parks, boost volunteerism and raise the visibility of local parks.
