The Better Business Bureau will host a free data security event Wednesday to address to discuss the threat data security breaches pose to local businesses.
The event will take place at WBBZ-TV studios in the Eastern Hills Mall, 4545 Transit Rd. Suite 750 in Williamsville. The program will be presented twice. The first session will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., the second will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The event is intended to help businesses take “proactive steps to protect customer and employee data,” said Warren Clark, president of the BBB of Upstate New York.
The U.S. Secret Service, the FBI and U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. will present information about how to recognize signs of trouble and how to develop a data security plan.
Both BBB accredited and non-accredited businesses can register for the event by email, firstname.lastname@example.org.
