Grace Saito celebrated a very special birthday last week, becoming a centenarian on April 20.
The Kibler Senior Apartments resident was born April 20, 1915 in Pittston, Pa., the second oldest of six children. She married William Saito on May 14, 1936 and they had two daughters, according to a proclamation last week by Mayor Rick Davis.
Saito worked as a seamstress, making clothes and curtains as well as crocheting bed spreads. She retired from M. Wile, a men’s clothing manufacturing company, in 1977 and moved into Kibler in 2005.
Today, she enjoys going to the casino, playing the lottery, attending Bingo and going for car rides, especially down to the river. The highlight of her week is Sunday dinner at the home of her daughter, Grace.
