BURLINGAME - John S. Formerly of Lewiston, NY, died April 1, 2015, with his loving wife Betty at his side, age 88, son of the late Clinton and Caroline (Ransom) Burlingame, proprietors of William H.H. Ransom Co. General Store in Ransomville. John was a US Navy veteran from 1944-48. In 1950, he formed NuTrend Homes and built houses across the Niagara Frontier until his retirement to Port Orange, FL in 1993. An avid stock car racing enthusiast, he enjoy building and working on dirt and asphalt modifieds. He helped area drivers Ed Ortiz, Neil Truesdell, Merv Treichler, Jim and Charlie Rudolph and Gary Lulg compete successfully at tracks throughout the eastern states. He was a former member of NASCAR and the Niagara Frontier Builders Assn. and current member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Florida. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty (Felix) Burlingame, whom he married in October, 1948; three daughters, Lynn (Craig) Zielin, Jamie (Joe) McNally and Sheila Dier (Wayne Lagoda); six grandchildren and a nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 11 AM from the HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES, INC., 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville, NY. Flowers gratefully declined.
