Fire causes an estimated $200,000 damage to Lancaster house

Fire caused an estimated $200,000 damage to two-story Cape Cod home in Lancaster Saturday evening.

No one was injured in the blaze at 420 Aurora St., said Chief Jim Koral of Twin District Volunteer Fire Company. Though there was a report a woman was in the house at the time of the fire, it turned out she was not home when authorities were alerted to the fire about 7:20 p.m.

The fire started in the back area, outside the home, and spread to the garage, the rear of the house and to a second garage, Koral said.

Firefighters estimated damage at $150,000 to the structure and $50,000 to the contents, he said. The cause, which is being investigated, does not appear suspicious, he added. Firefighters extinguished the blaze in about 35 minutes but had to ensure that the fire did not spread into walls of the structure, he said.

Southline, Village of Lancaster and Bellvue volunteer fire companies also responded to the fire.
