Falls school trespassers were on a feline rescue mission

NIAGARA FALLS – Police investigating a report of trespassers in the former South Junior High School on Portage Road Friday afternoon discovered two juveniles carrying a box containing six newborn kittens.

The unidentified juveniles told police they had seen the mother cat “coming and going” from the building and thought that the kittens may be “in trouble.” Officers contacted an animal control officer, who took the kittens to the Niagara County SPCA.

A door on the east side of the former school that was found damaged and wide open was secured, police said. The juveniles were not charged.
