WHEATFIELD – The state Department of Transportation will host a public information meeting on the planned widening of Niagara Falls Boulevard from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Wheatfield Community Center, 2790 Church Road, behind Town Hall. A formal presentation on the plan is set for 6:30; the rest of the time will be used for informal questions for DOT officials.
The $5.5 million project, scheduled for construction in 2016, involves the construction of a center turning lane between Sy Road and Bergholtz Creek, and the installation of a sidewalk on the west side of the boulevard. Drainage improvements and the replacement of all traffic signs and railings in the project area also are on tap, along with the realignment of the intersection of Old Falls Boulevard and Niagara Falls Boulevard.
The purpose of the meeting is to obtain comments on the proposed project design from individuals, groups, local officials and agencies.
