Westfield cocaine trafficker arrested in Pennsylvania

MAYVILLE – A 30-year-old Erie, Pa., man under indictment for alleged cocaine trafficking in the Westfield area, was arrested by a U.S. Marshal Service agent Thursday evening in Meadville, Pa., the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office reported Friday.

Robert P. Gonzalez Jr. will be returned here for arraignment on a Chautauqua County grand jury indictment charging him with third-degree criminal possession and sale of a controlled substance, including alleged sales to an undercover agent of the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force in Westfield.

Gonzalez is being held in the Crawford County Jail in Pennsylvania pending his extradition to Mayville. Friday afternoon members of the Pennsylvania State Attorney General’s office and the marshal’s service searched the Erie home where Gonzalez had been living. The arrest came after an investigation of cocaine trafficking in Westfield over the past three months and more arrests are expected, a sheriff’s spokesman said.

Anyone observing alleged narcotic-related activity in their area is asked to contact either the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force at 1-800-344-8702 or Westfield police at 363-0313.
