Jamestown man sought for falsely claiming someone shot him

JAMESTOWN – A 23-year-old Jamestown man who falsely claimed someone else shot him in the shoulder during a drug transaction at McKinley Avenue and Prospect Street about 5 p.m. March 19 is now being sought by Jamestown Police for making a false claim about the incident, police officials said Friday.

Matthew W. Buck, who lived on Terrace Place, faces arrest on charges of first-degree making an apparent false sworn statement and third-degree falsely reporting an incident.

An investigation confirmed that Buck lied and actually shot himself in the shoulder during the drug deal. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to called the Jamestown Police Department at 483-7537 or the department’s anonymous tip line at 483-8477. All calls are kept confidential.
