Atlantic Hockey will get to showcase itself in the first ever college hockey game at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The venue announced "Brooklyn Hockey" and the inaugural doubleheader event is set for Sunday, Nov. 1. The first game will feature Army West Point against Bentley with the second game a Hockey East clash between Notre Dame and Connecticut.
It's an outgrowth of the Brooklyn Hoops platform which has made Barclays Center a destination venue for mid-major basketball programs. The official release notes that the doubleheader will feature different teams each year.
Also of note in Atlantic Hockey, the U.S. Military Academy announced their rebrand last week. The proper name for the school's athletic teams (once known only as a "Army") will be Army West Point Black Knights.
"This innovative new branding respects and elevates the Academy's history and heritage and reflects the unique qualities of Army West Point Athletics, while tying the service to the Academy," Lt. Gen. Robert Caslen, Jr., USMA superintendent said in a press release.
It does, however take up a lot of characters on Twitter.
