Donn strikes out seven
St. Joe’s took an early 4-0 lead and rode the strength of senior Jake Donn on the mound for a 5-1 win over Bishop Timon-St. Jude in Georgetown Cup baseball.
“Even in the cold, he had all his pitches,” St. Joe’s coach Paul Nasca said. “His fastball, curve and change-up were all good and he had pretty good control.”
Donn gave up one hit in six innings with seven strikeouts.
Driving in runs with RBI singles were Dennis Gagliardo, Derek Pennman and David Archer as St. Joe’s improved to 6-2 overall, 4-0 in league play.
Cleveland Hill comes back
Trailing by a run in the final inning, Cleveland Hill took advantage of two passed balls and an RBI to rally for a 7-5 win over JFK in an ECIC IV baseball matchup.
Jared Brannigan had an RBI single in the seventh and Cleveland Hill then scored twice on passed balls to take the lead.
Tyler Phillips had two hits and scored two runs while Zach Lewandowski picked up the win, pitching a complete game with two strikeouts.
Valley paces Medina
Tyler Valley scored five goals and Jake Cotter added four as Medina defeated Lew-Port, 12-6, in Class C boys lacrosse.
In Class B games, Sweet Home improved to 4-1 with an 11-9 win over Lake Shore. Connor Heald had three goals and one assist while Kyle Ciehomski had a three-point night.
Zach Sigueora scored three goals with an assist as West Seneca West picked up its first win of the season in a 10-6 decision over North Tonawanda. Adam Tobias had a goal and three assists.
Jordan Scinta scored three goals for Williamsville North as the Spartans stayed unbeaten in league play with a 14-5 win over Iroquois.
Cervino powers Cleve Hill
Anna Cervino drove in three runs to help Cleveland Hill to a 14-4 win over JFK in ECIC IV softball. Cervino went 3 for 5 with two doubles and three runs scored. Cleveland Hill improved to 5-1 overall.
Dargan notches six points
It was a six-point night for Fiona Dargan as Williamsville South earned a 13-8 win over West Seneca East in Class B girls lacrosse.
Dargan scored five goals and Kim Brace four for the Billies (3-1).
