NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. – Two fishermen who apparently forgot that the water level in the Niagara River Gorge rises during the day were rescued after they were stuck on a rock a short distance off the shoreline early Wednesday afternoon.
One of the men slipped on the rock and was injured, and neither could get off the rock, but nearby hikers called 911. The Niagara Parks Police Service’s High Angle River Team and Niagara Helicopters got the men onto a hovering helicopter at about 1:15 p.m.
After the injured man was examined by paramedics and found to have only minor injuries, both men were released at the scene, according to a Niagara Parks Police spokesman.
