The Franciscan Center, a shelter and program in South Buffalo for teens and young men in need of a home and help, will hold its annual Father Patrick Mendola Memorial Scholarship Dinner on May 7 at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens, 6461 Transit Road, Depew. The event, named for the center’s founder and first executive director, will honor Jim and Carol Byrne and Jim and Janis McCullough, all from West Seneca, for their years of volunteer assistance and fundraising for the shelter.
The center is a transitional independent living facility and is currently under the direction of Father Joseph Bayne. It has been providing its services to young men ages 16 to 20 for 35 years.
Tickets for the dinner are $75, available by calling the center at 822-8017.
