Buffalo registered sex offender pleads guilty to federal kiddy porn charge

Timothy W. Marlnee, 48, a registered Buffalo sex offender for two earlier sex convictions, pleaded guilty Wednesday before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara to possession of child pornography.

Convicted in 1985 and 1993 locally of sex crimes, including the rape of an 11-year-old Buffalo girl, he faces a prison term of at least 10 years and up to 20 years and a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced Aug. 3, according to U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott S. Allen, Jr. said a police search of Marlnee’s West Chippewa Street flat on Nov. 13, 2013 led to the seizure of a laptop computer that contained over 950 images of child pornography, some of children under 12 years old and some depicting images of violence. Marlnee’s arrest on the current charges stemmed from an investigation by the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force which includes Buffalo and Cheektowaga police officers and Niagara County sheriff deputies, he said.
