Alex Berkley creates 28 new tunes

Since we last checked in with singer/songwriter Alex Berkley, he released his latest installment in his annual Fun-a-Day album series.

For year three of the project, Berkley threw his iTunes on shuffle every day during February and wrote a song inspired by whatever song the player picked. The result was “28 Days of Fun 3: Shuffled,” a (you guessed it) 28-song collection of tunes inspired by the songs “Spiderwebs” by No Doubt, “Protagonist” by They Might Be Giants, “Get Lost” by Tom Waits and more from the musician’s eclectic collection.

At 8 p.m. Saturday in Dreamland (387 Franklin St.), Berkley will headline an evening of laid-back folk, sure to touch on a handful of tracks from “Shuffled” and more from his deep catalog.

Joining him will be two Steel City artists – Adeline Hotel and Johanna Samuels – currently on a shore tour of the northeast.

The requested donation is $5.
