Springville’s budget to stay under state tax cap

The Springville Village Board unanimously adopted the 2015-16 budget Monday night with a 1 percent increase in the tax levy and general fund spending.

Board members approved a $1,672,356 tax levy, the amount collected in property taxes.

General fund expenses, funded by property taxes, rose by 1 percent to $3,000,952. The budget totaled $8,484,114, including water, sewer and electric expenses.

Taxpayers will see a tax rate of $16.47 per $1,000 of property value, a 1.25 percent jump.

Officials kept the increase in the tax levy below the state-required 1.89 percent cap.
