Lancaster man arrested for drunk driving

A 56-year-old Town of Lancaster man was arrested Monday by State Police for speeding on Crittenden Road in the Town of Alden for alleged drunk driving and a number of other charges.

Gary Sobolewski, who allegedly got out of his vehicle after being warned to remain in the car, claimed his driver’s license had been revoked. After he failed field sobriety tests and was found to have marijuana and a drug pipe in his vehicle it was confirmed that he had been ordered to drive only with an ignition interlock device, which he did not have.

Because of a prior DWI conviction he was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, refusal to take a breath test, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on a highway, felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of marijuana, operation a vehicle without a court-ordered interlock device and speeding. He was released to a family member and ordered to return to Alden Town Court on April 28.
