Community event on STEM fields planned for May 2

Parents will have the opportunity to learn about the STEM fields – science, technology, engineering and math — during an event May 2 at the GM Tonawanda Engine Plant.

STEM-Wise 2015 is geared toward parents of students interested in or currently enrolled in K-12 academic programs in the STEM fields. It will feature presentations on how parents can support their children, college scholarship opportunities, careers and other topics.

The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 11:30 a.m. with tours of the GM plant. Refreshments will be served and free parking is available at the facility, 2995 River Road. Space is limited and registration at or by calling 854-2490 is required by April 30.

Sponsors are National Grid and the GM Tonawanda Engine Plant. The event was created and organized by the Buffalo Academy of Science Charter School in partnership with the University at Buffalo’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and WNY STEM Hub.
