Woman welcomed to Falls neighborhood by shots fired at her parked car

NIAGARA FALLS – A woman who recently moved into a Niagara Falls neighborhood found her car shot up at 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police believe it may be a case of mistaken identity.

The woman said she heard five shots in the alleyway near her house in the 400 block of 27th Street and got scared and decided not to go out and try to move her vehicle to the correct side of the street. Sunday morning, as she headed out to church, she found she had a parking ticket and two bullet holes on her car.

She said she had only had the 2009 Chevy Cobalt for about a month and it was not damaged previously. She said she had just moved into the apartment and was not familiar with her neighbors.

One witness saw a newer model vehicle speed away after the shots were fire.

Several other witnesses also heard the shots but told police they were too scared to take any action or even look out the window for a shooter.
