DUNKIRK – A motorist who hit a utility pole and road signs in the Chautauqua County town of Dunkirk was arrested on multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated, sheriff’s deputies reported.
Amanda M. Ritchie, 32, of Westfield, was driving west on Route 5 early Saturday when she lost control of her vehicle, deputies said. After hitting the pole and signs, Ritchie tried to flee but was located a short time later.
Ritchie, who was taken to Brooks Memorial Hospital for a medical evaluation, was charged with a felony count of DWI because of a previous conviction within 10 years. She also was cited for several traffic violations, including leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.
She was issued tickets to appear in Dunkirk Town Court.
