LOCKPORT – A public update on development plans for the South Transit Road commercial strip, dubbed “Transit North” by Town Supervisor Marc R. Smith, will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in Town Hall, 6560 Dysinger Road.
Smith, City of Lockport Mayor Anne E. McCaffrey and representatives of the Town of Pendleton are scheduled to review the goals and objectives of the plan, which include an attempt at common rules for land use, zoning and design, as well as marketing and business recruitment and retention efforts. The Transit North idea dates back to 2006.
The six-mile corridor along Route 78 extends from the Niagara-Erie County border to the Tri-Way Bridge over the Erie Canal in downtown Lockport. Pendleton has the west side of the road south of Route 93.
