Third time is not the charm for store thief

A 15th Street man allegedly stole items from a 7-Eleven store at 171 Grant St. three times before being caught Saturday night.

Northwest District police captured Francisco Lanzo, 25, shortly before 11 p.m. and charged him with three counts of petit larceny.

Lanzo was charged with taking some energy drinks about 6 p.m. Thursday; 21 candy bars at 9:30 p.m. Saturday; and two more candy bars shortly after 10:30 p.m. Saturday, which was followed by his arrest near the store.

Police said the last two Twix bars stolen were found in his pockets along with three hypodermic needles, which led to an additional charge of criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument.
