A 21-year-old man told Buffalo police he was chased and stabbed by a group of assailants after trying to break up a fight Sunday afternoon on the city’s West Side.
The victim told Northwest District officers his cousin was attacked by the group of males just before 1:30 p.m. at Grant and Breckenridge streets. When he tried to break up the fight, the victim said he was chased to the lobby of a nearby store where he was kicked, punched and stabbed in the hand, according to a report.
He suffered a deep cut to his forearm and hand, as well as other injuries, and was taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment, police said.
The incident may have been gang-related, police said.
