LOCKPORT – Mary H. Bergman, longtime fiscal administrator of the Niagara County Public Works Department, was named acting director of the newly created Buildings and Grounds Department last week by County Manager Jeffrey M. Glatz.
Bergman said she has applied for the permanent directorship of the department, newly separated from Public Works.
Bergman, whose base salary was $52,349, had her pay raised to an annual rate of $60,298 for the time she is acting director.
Human Resources Director Peter P. Lopes said he and Glatz will meet Monday to decide which of the 10 people who applied for the directorship will be interviewed. Bergman is one of three people already on the county payroll who applied.
Asked how long the selection process will take, Lopes said, “This could take a few months.”
