NIAGARA FALLS – The United Way of Greater Niagara will present numerous awards earned during its 2014 fund-raising campaign at its annual meeting, set for 8 a.m. Wednesday in the Seneca Niagara Events Center, 310 Fourth St., Niagara Falls.
James P. Klyzcek, president of Niagara County Community College, will receive the Norman Sinclair Humanitarian Award. Other honorees will include Barbara Heffernan, the “Think Positive, Think United Way” Award; Michael Gendrue, the Barker School District and the campaign team from Occidental Chemical Corp., the Outstanding Employee Coordinator Award; Diane Quarantello, the Shining Star Award; and Michael Henderson, the Labor Community Service Award.
Also, First Niagara Bank will receive the Caring Cup Award; the Salvation Army’s Lockport chapter will receive the Service Cup Award; the Lockport Union-Sun & Journal, the Niagara Gazette and M&T Bank, the Horizon Award; and the Niagara-Orleans Labor Council, the President’s Award. Also, five outgoing board members will be recognized, and new ones will be voted on.
During its 2014 campaign, the United Way raised about $1.21 million to support 45 programs provided by 23 agencies in Niagara County.
