LEWISTON – Programs this week at Niagara University feature sports executives from media, collegiate and professional athletic organizations.
Michael Lyons, the Buffalo Bills’ director of analytics, will talk about the use of data-driven research for football operations and marketingt at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Dunleavy Hall, Room 127. Lyons is a graduate of East Aurora High School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Rochester.
A sports management symposium that gets underway at 10 a.m. Thursday will feature a roundtable student symposium with sports professionals in team, event and media management. The keynote speaker will be eight-time Emmy Award winner Ric LaCivita, at 2 p.m. in St. Vincent’s Hall, Room 407. LaCivita, who began his career at ABC Sports, has been involved in productions from the Olympics to Monday Night Football.
A St. John’s University symposium featuring Dr. Keith Studler, director of the Marist College Center for Sports Communication, as keynote speaker will be simulcast during the Thursday event.
The cost for the Thursday symposium is $10 for NU Sports Management Association members and $15 for NU students and community members. Registration is from 8:45 and 9:45 a.m. Thursday in St. Vincent’s Hall, Room 409.
