LEWISTON – A 23-year-old North Carolina man and a 24-year-old Ransomville man were arrested by New York State Police at the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge on weapon and drug charges after their car was barred from entry to Canada.
The state police were called after U.S. Custom and Border Protection agents refused to let the car drive back into the U.S. The driver, Eric S. Kornacki of Holly Ridge, N.C. and his passenger, Jonathan A. Aquino of Ransomville, were both charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon after a pair of brass knuckles and a hypodermic needle were allegedly found in their car.
Aquino was also charged with a felony count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after troopers reportedly found he had a plastic baggie containing about 4.5 grams of cocaine. Both were issued appearance tickets for further proceedings at the Lewiston Town Court next Tuesday.
