Two arrested on felony and misdemeanor drug charges

A 20-year-old East Ferry Street man and a 48-year-old Amherst woman were arrested on felony and misdemeanor drug charges after police officers were drawn attention to the woman’s parked car Tuesday at East Ferry and Cornwall Avenue by a man running to get into the vehicle.

DeShaun Goodwin and Amy Freedman were arrested after Goodwin admitted he didn’t know the name of the Amherst woman and police found in the vehicle two large rocks of crack cocaine, glassine envelopes and a pipe with alleged drug residue.

Both were charged with third, fourth and seven-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Goodwin was also charged with second-degree escape and obstruction of governmental administration for allegedly trying to hide drugs under the front seat of Freeman’s car and trying to run from police.
