NT woman accused of collecting unemployment benefits while working for board of elections

LOCKPORT – A North Tonawanda woman was accused of collecting unemployment benefits while working as a clerk for the Niagara County Board of Elections.

Katie J. Rich, 31, was charged last week with felony counts of grand larceny, falsifying business records and offering a false instrument, according to State Police.

Between March 26 and July 1, 2012, Rich fraudulently obtained more than $2,600 in unemployment benefits, said troopers, who investigated the case with the state Department of Labor.

Rich was issued a ticket to appear Wednesday in Lockport City Court.
