Lancaster should choose new mascot and move on
As a Lancaster resident, I applaud the School Board decision to remove the name of the mascot. It is the right thing to do. I don’t understand the parents and students who want to keep this racial slur. Times change and you have to change with them.
I feel that the time of parents and students who want to keep the racial slur could be better spent protesting the high cost of college education and the fact that the U.S. government makes $60 billion a year from the interest on student loans.
In closing, a sports team is not defined by a mascot name. If the name were not removed, most other schools’ teams would eventually boycott the Lancaster teams. Pick a new mascot name and I’m sure life will go on.
