Herd blank Toledo

Shutout pitching continued Tuesday for the Buffalo Bisons, whose opening day roster is starting to flesh out with the assignment of three veteran players from the Toronto Blue Jays.

Bisons pitchers posted a third consecutive shutout with a 6-0 spring training victory over the Toledo Mud Hens in Lakeland, Fla. Left-hander Rob Rasmussen and right-handers Matthew West, Cory Burns, Steve Delabar and Preston Guilmet combined to blank the Mud Hens on eight hits, striking out nine with no walks, Andy Burns homered and drove in four runs for the Herd (6-4-1) while Chris Colabello and Jonathan Berti had two hits each.

Toronto optioned catcher Josh Thole to the Bisons as well as fan-favorite infielder Munenori Kawasaki and veteran lefty Jeff Francis.
