BATAVIA – Directors of the Genesee County Economic Development Center on Monday approved a $180,000 sales tax exemption for Darien Lake Theme Park Resort for two new attractions this season.
The theme park’s $2.5 million project includes a 75-foot “super loop” thrill ride and dual water slide complex speed ride.
The board also received reports from Mostert, Manzanero & Scott, LLP related to the financial positions for the year ending Dec. 31, 2014, of the GCEDC as well as its investment arm, Genesee Gateway Local Development Corporation.
The GCEDC finished 2014 with a net operating loss of $14,990 as compared to a net operating loss of $198,403 in 2013.
As expenses remained consistent overall in 2014, revenues from project fees were significantly higher in 2014 as compared to 2013. The largest venture in 2014 was the $20 million Yancey’s Fancy project in Pembroke.
The GGLDC, including Genesee Agri-Business, finished 2014 with $587,172 in net operating income that included $1.37 million in grant revenues. The grants included a NYS Homes and Community Renewal grant that supported the construction of an internal access road and Route 5 improvements at the Buffalo East Tech Park.
