Catholic Charities reaches 78.4 percent of its goal

Catholic Charities raised an additional $1.11 million during Appeal Week last week, Bishop Richard J. Malone of the Diocese of Buffalo reported Tuesday morning, but donations still are running behind last year’s pace.

The total of $8,546,086 represents 78.4 percent of the $10.9 million goal. Last year at this time, 82.3 percent of the goal had been reached. The annual campaign continues through June 30.

Bishop Malone thanked the hundreds of pastors and parish, corporate and community division volunteers who made a concerted effort during Appeal Week to gather donations.

Funds raised assist more than 142,000 Western New Yorkers, Catholics and non-Catholics alike, through 70 programs and services throughout the eight-county region, as well as the Bishop’s Fund for the Faith, which supports related ministries of the Diocese of Buffalo.
