A 49-year-old Prospect Avenue man was arrested Sunday afternoon for allegedly breaking into two parked cars in the Kenmore Avenue area.
Jose Ramos was initially charged with damaging the car of a businessman working at a Ramsdell Avenue auto repair business. After the businessman heard the alarm sounding on his parked car he confronted Ramos near the vehicle and held him there until police arrived. Ramos, according to a police report, admitted he broke a window on the car to steal items.
After being charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and possession of burglar’s tools for that incident Ramos allegedly admitted that the car stereo player he had been hiding under his overcoat had been stolen earlier in the afternoon from a car in the parking lot of a collision shop on Kenmore Avenue around the corner from the Ramsdell Avenue incident. He was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and possession of burglar’s tools for the Kenmore Avenue incident.
