Mayor Brown honors women, organizations as part of Women’s History Month

Mayor Byron W. Brown Monday honored nine women and two organizations in recognition of Women’s History Month.

Recognized in a City Hall ceremony were: State Supreme Court Justice Shirley Troutman, Buffalo Niagara Partnership president Dottie Gallagher-Cohen, Community Foundation President Clotilde Perez-Bode Dedecker and Stephanie Lynn Crockatt, interim director of the Olmsted Parks Conservancy.

Also honored were former school board member Florence D. Johnson, who is project director of student support services at SUNY Buffalo State; Catherine M. Roberts, senior vice-president with the Community Action Organization; Yolanda Martinez-Rodriguez,a Fisher-Price manager who is president of the Fisher-Price Diversity Committee; and Fern Beavers and Sharon Amos, who have published “Stories of WNY Minority Military Men and Women.”

Also honored were the Miss Borinquen Leadership Pagent, chaired by Gloria Hernandez; and the Young Miss Buffalo Pagent, founded by Detra M. Trueheart.
